“This morning around 4:16 am we received a call for a shooting in the area of Advance Blvd. and Alfred Kuene Blvd.,” said Peel Regional Police Const. Mandeep Khatra.

“Officers arrived on scene and located a male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Lifesaving efforts were attempted by our officers and shortly thereafter that male victim was transported to a trauma center.”

The man – who has not yet been identified – was later pronounced dead in hospital.

Police are appealing for any information witnesses can share.

“We do not have anyone in custody at this time. And no suspect information to share,” added Khatra.

“So anyone with any information — or anyone that was in the area at the time of, prior to, or after the incident — is urged to contact our homicide bureau.”

We apologize, but this video has failed to load.

Police also say some vehicles were seen leaving the area at the time of the shooting.

“Our officers are conducting a thorough canvas of the area and getting video surveillance. They have spoken to multiple witnesses shortly after the incident when they arrived,” Const. Khatra said.

“It appears to be an isolated incident. It is unknown at this time if there was any exchange of gunfire.”

Peel Regional Police figures up to April 30 show there have been nine murders in the region so far this year.
