A 34-year-old man has been charged in connection with two shootings that took place in Edmonton in recent months.

The most recent shooting took place on March 12, 2022, at a salon in the area of ​​124 Street and 118 Avenue. One person was killed in the shooting and six others were injured.

In a news release Monday afternoon, the Edmonton Police Service said Alinur Mohamed Mussa was identified for his suspected role in discharging a firearm during the saloon shooting.

Police said further investigation identified the 34-year-old man as a suspect in a shooting that took place on Aug. 29, 2021, at Duggan Community Hall, located in the area of ​​37 Avenue and 106 Street.

Police said Hamza Mohamed, 22, was killed in that shooting and two men have been charged in connection with his killing.

Police said that on June 27, officers located Mussa in a vehicle and four people in the vehicle, including Mussa, were taken into custody.

Police then searched a residence and a vehicle, in which police said they found two handguns, one with a defaced serial number and the other with an overcapacity magazine. During the search, two prohibited magazines, evidence of the shooting in the living room, 7.1 grams of cocaine and evidence of fraud were also located, according to the police.

Mussa faces 20 charges in connection with these incidents, including attempted murder, three counts of aggravated assault, four counts of disorderly possession of a weapon, three counts of possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition, two counts of firing a firearm with intent and two counts of possession of a firearm in a vehicle.

Yahye Abdinasir Alibarre, 28, is also charged with two counts of possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition, two counts of possession of a firearm in a vehicle, two counts of possession of a prohibited device, and possession of a firearm with serial number erased in connection with traffic. stop made on June 27.

Police said neither Mussa nor Alibarre had firearms licenses.

The other people who were in the vehicle were not charged, according to the EPS.

Police continue to search for Saed Osman, 27, who is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for first-degree murder in the March 2022 salon shooting.

Police are also seeking to identify a fourth suspect wanted in the saloon shooting.
