A Montreal man in his 60s died in a fire early Saturday morning.

The police and the Montreal Fire Department were called around midnight to the corner of Musset Ave. and Jean-Talon St. East.
An unresponsive man was discovered in an apartment where the fire was raging. The man was found dead at the scene, explained agent Raphaël Bergeron, spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).
A cigarette could be the cause of the fire. Evidence suggests that the cause of the fire was accidental, according to initial observations by the SPVM.
The fire was brought under control shortly before 1:30 am Saturday morning. Police continue to investigate.
