Officers found the 36-year-old victim was found in an alley following calls to 911 about shots fired in Ville Saint-Pierre.

The man had suffered an upper-body injury and was in serious condition when hospitalized. He was aware when being transported by paramedics.

SPVM spokesperson Raphaël Bergeron said the force does not yet have any suspects or witnesses. It’s “difficult to establish what really happened,” he added.

Investigators were on the scene Sunday morning seeking shed light on the shooting. Bergeron said the surrounding areas and video surveillance cameras will be inspected.

Investigators will meet with the man when his condition improves.
