Luma, above the TIFF Lightbox, will welcome a lineup of speakers for an evening of compelling conversation. Together, we’ll look at some of the most pressing questions worrying Canadians today. What influences are shaping the country? Where does the true power lie? Who is next when it comes to leadership in Canada?

Here’s a preview of what awaits us:

The evening will begin with an intimate and informative talk moderated by Maclean’s editor Jason Maghanoy. Their topic: How to build lasting power in our communities. 6:30 pm Eastern Time.

Kanwar, former VP of Product Acceleration at Shopify and co-founder of Good Future, led strategic acquisitions, partnerships, and expansion efforts for more than a decade. President of Mastercard Canada, Krstic has 20 years of strategic leadership in payments and technology. His progressive approach has shaped Mastercard’s leadership in payments technology, cybersecurity and social impact initiatives across the country. A recognized payments industry leader, Krstic serves on multiple boards and contributes to industry dialogues with an emphasis on building diverse teams and strong relationships with customers and partners.

For the evening’s main event, two (2) visionary thinkers will take the Ideas Summit stage for a dynamic conversation about the power of truth in the face of misinformation. In conversation with Jason Maghanoy, the panel will aim to generate curiosity and understanding about one of the most important topics within Canada’s civil discourse. 7:30 pm Eastern Time.

Henein is a leading litigator in Canada who has excelled in high-profile criminal, civil and regulatory cases. Experienced in complex criminal and commercial disputes, he skillfully overcomes challenges and achieves superior results in court. A respected speaker and author, Henein has received numerous accolades, including the Martin Medal Award and recognition in Canadian lawyer magazine.

Boyagoda, a civil discourse advisor at the University of Toronto, is a prolific author and English professor. His novels have garnered critical acclaim and nominations for prestigious literary awards, including the Scotiabank Giller Prize and the IMPAC Dublin Literary Award. He served as president of PEN Canada and will soon publish his first all-ages novel, Small Sanctuary.

Following the summit’s closing remarks, the evening will conclude with live music, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres while guests enjoy the closing party and networking segment. 8:30 pm Eastern Time.
