Luis Antonio Ramírez Pineda assumes the general management of Nafin and Bancomext

Luis Antonio Ramírez Pineda took office as CEO of Nacional Financiera (Nafin) and the National Bank of Foreign Trade (Bancomext), replacing Juan Pablo de Botton, who was appointed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador as the Undersecretary of Expenditures of the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP).

In a statement, the official reiterated his commitment to “position these development banks as protagonists in the process of economic reactivation.”

“President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has instructed me to strengthen the work of our development banks as key actors in the economic reactivation. “The capitalization ratio of Nafin and Bancomext is currently above 18 percent. Receiving institutions with this level of solidity and self-sufficiency will allow me to direct the necessary resources to where they are most needed and quickly, ”said the official.

Luis Antonio Ramírez Pineda is originally from Huajuapan de León, Oaxaca.

The graduate in Economics from the ITAM, with a master’s degree in Social Policy and Planning from the London School of Economics and Political Science, he has been a professor at the UNAM Law School. He was Deputy Director of Finance at Fovissste and Director of Finance at Issste.

From 2009 to 2012 he served as director of the Center for Public Finance Studies in the Chamber of Deputies. Since December 2018 he collaborated with the 4T as general director of the Institute of Social Security and Services for Workers (Issste).
