Lt. Governor Dowdeswell conducts virtual school visit

Students from various virtual classes at Academie Ste. Cecile International School visited Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Ontario’s Lieutenant Governor, on Monday.

Dowdeswell spoke with students in grades 5-8 about the importance of responsible citizenship as part of the school’s curriculum on Canadian government, sustainability, and global democracy. Students were able to ask questions of their virtual guest speaker.

Teacher Nancy Pancheshan said the school extended an invitation to speak with students last December. “The students are very excited about the event,” Pancheshan said in an email. “It gave us something to look forward to in our school day, especially under our current COVID restrictions.”
