Police set up a command post on Wednesday at the site where Manon Boisvert’s body was discovered by a bystander on January 5. They hope to speak to witnesses who might have seen someone near their car on the night of January 2 while it was parked. in the lot off Rolland Therrien Blvd., near the Longueuil courthouse.

The credit union branch is next to a large shopping complex, but most stores were closed that Sunday under Quebec’s COVID measures.

“Through different investigative techniques (including images captured by surveillance cameras in the area), investigators discovered that the murder was committed on the night of January 2,” said Mélanie Mercille, a Longueuil police spokeswoman.

“That Sunday the stores were closed so there was much less circulation (of people). So, someone may have seen a suspicious person or persons near the victim. That’s why we’re asking people who might have been in the parking lot that night to call us if they see a suspicious person or vehicle.”

Boisvert’s body was found inside his car, a blue 2003 Toyota Echo.

By Wednesday afternoon, about 10 people, including a possible witness, had contacted Longueuil police, either through the command post or by phone, Mercille said.

No arrests have been made in the investigation.

“What we can say is that the victim was attacked. She was not chosen by chance,” Mercille said, declining to elaborate.

He said the victim was a Longueuil resident and, according to press reports, the mother of two adults and a teenage girl. According to his Facebook page, Boisvert was born in Drummondville and attended high school in Boucherville.

Longueuil Police are asking anyone with information related to the case to contact them at 450-463-7211. Information may be provided anonymously.
