The Lakeshore Canadiens posted back-to-back wins to open Final Four play in the Provincial Junior Hockey League’s Schmalz Cup competition.

Lakeshore beat the Stayner Siskins 5-1 on Sunday in the team’s final home game of the season at the Atlas Tube Centre. On Saturday, the Canadiens rallied for a 3-2 win on the road over the Grimsby Peach Kings.

The Canadiens (2-0) will face the Clarington Eagles (1-1) on Thursday in Guelph looking to secure the top spot in round-robin play before the four teams are seeded for the semifinals.

Dylan Weston had a goal and three points in Sunday’s win with linemate Trevor LaRue adding a goal and an assist against the Siskins (1-1). Bryce Scarlett, Marco Sladoje and Sebastien Tronchin added single goals while goalie Roman Liburdi stopped 25-of-26 shots.

On Saturday, the Canadiens scored all three goals to rally for the road win against the Peach Kings (0-2). Weston, Sladoje and Scarlett scored for the Canadiens while goalie Trevor Heslop made 20 saves.

Maroons drop Flyers

The Chatham Maroons scored the game’s final five goals to pull away for a 6-1 win over the Leamington Flyers on Sunday.

With it, the third-seed Maroons evened the best-of-seven Western Conference final series in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League at 1-1. Game 3 is Monday in Leamington.

Connor MacPherson pulled the Flyers even with a short-handed goal to tie the game at 1-1 after the first period, but Chatham added three goals in the second period and two more in the third period to secure the win.

Clippers remain unbeaten

A 60-save performance by goalie Chase Cosgrove helped the Windsor Clippers remain unbeaten after three games in the Ontario Lacrosse Association Junior B League.

Windsor was outshot 66-38 on Sunday, but came away with an 8-6 road win over the Hamilton Bengals. It followed a 12-5 win in the team’s home opener on Saturday against the Guelph Regals at Forest Glade Arena.

On Sunday, Xander Derkatz scored three goals for the Clippers while Nathan DeThomasis and Max Frattaroli each scored twice. Malikye Good netted the other against Hamilton (3-2).

On Saturday, Connor McManus and Derkatz each scored three goals for the Clippers. Good, Brandon Coulter, Calum Brennan, DeThomasis, Kane Murphy and Frattaroli added single goals against the Regals (4-1).

WECSSA tennis finals

The Riverside Rebels edged Academie Ste. Cecile by a single point to claim the WECSSAA high school team tennis championship on Saturday while the Villanova Wildcats claimed the open title.

In high school play, Ste. Cecile’s Jack Li won the boys’ singles title with an 8-4 win over Assumption’s Michael Dragan while Riverside’s David Ceuca claimed the bronze medal.

Assumption’s Justin Yim and Warren Sim beat Riverside’s Jodhbir Singh and Gurjot Singh 8-4 for the boys’ doubles title with Kingsville’s Liam Toews and Rowan Anderson earning the bronze medal.

Riverside’s Aleksandra Radevski beat Vista Academy’s McKinley Hayes 8-1 in the girls’ single signal while Ste. Cecile’s Hannah Malus captured the bronze medal.

The girls’ doubles title went to Ste. Cecile’s Eesha Atikukke and Anjali Atikukke after an 8-4 win over Vista Academy’s Nikolina Paunic and Tamsyn King. The bronze went to Riverside’s Adelia Scofield and Maja Jovanovic.

Vista Academy’s Liam Hayes and Madeline Cherian claimed the mixed double title with an 8-7 win over Lajeunesse’s Drew Booker and Michael Marenchin. Riverside’s Ethan Afonso and Lilli Scofield claimed the bronze medal.

In the open division, Holy Names’ Rami Shaya defeated Massey’s Amrit Gill for the gold medal while Villanova’s TJ Langlois captured the bronze medal.

St. Joesph’s Anika Yap beat Riverside’s Katie Mantay 8-2 in the final with Riverside’s Martina Mantay to secure the bronze medal.
