Victor Green posted the phone number for the Windsor Regional Hospital COVID-19 vaccination center and encouraged people to book fake appointments that they do not intend to keep.

“You know what to do,” he wrote. “Fill up those date slots so much that they’ll have to turn the kids away because they’re full.”

Health Canada approved the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for children ages 5 to 11 on Friday.

I thought at this point I had seen it all. Clearly, I have not.

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit announced this week that local children in that age group, some 33,000 people, will be able to get vaccinated starting Thursday.

Making the announcement Monday, Acting Medical Health Officer Dr. Shanker Nesathurai said that vaccinating youth is “an integral part of the strategy to reduce the burden of disease in the community.”

Hundreds of people gathered along the Windsor waterfront near the Great Canadian Flag on Saturday, August 28, 2021 for a “rally for freedom” and to protest against what they called “medical tyranny.” Several people spoke, including local anti-lockdown activist Currie Soulliere and Chris Sky, who gained notoriety during the COVID-19 pandemic for his stance against masks, vaccines and cheating. The next day, Green posted his comment on a Facebook group dedicated to opposing the COVID-19 protocols. He declined to discuss it later Tuesday.

In addition to telling the Star that he “had no comment,” he released a short spiel about his dislike of the media.

“You haven’t done me any favors,” said Green, who got 10 percent of the vote in Windsor-Tecumseh in the last election.

“I have no love for the media. Until you start telling the truth, you and I will no longer be friends. It’s that easy. Bye.”

A request for comment from the federal leader of the People’s Party of Canada, Maxime Bernier, or another party representative, was also rejected.

“We have no comment,” said PPC spokesman Martin Masse in a short email.

Green has repeatedly posted and commented on social media pages created in opposition to vaccine mandates and other COVID-19 orders.

He has promoted anti-vax demonstrations, alleged the ineffectiveness of masks, and posted a video of the York Center MPP Roman Baber, who was expelled from the PC party in opposition to the COVID-19 shutdowns, speaking of natural immunity.

Windsor Police say they know protests are being planned at COVID-19 vaccination sites. There will be a police presence to monitor and guarantee public safety. Police also issued a reminder that protesters must remain on public property and that “hospital operations and public safety cannot be disrupted in any way.”

Windsor Regional Hospital Executive Director David Musyj said he notified Windsor police about Green’s latest post urging action to prevent children from getting vaccinated.

“Intentionally preventing someone, especially children ages 5 to 11 and their parents, from accessing critical healthcare services like the COVID-19 vaccine is reprehensible and disgusting,” Musyj said. “Our local Windsor / Essex healthcare system and the world have witnessed the devastating impact of COVID-19 on our community and deliberately sabotaging someone’s ability to access this life-saving vaccine must be stopped through current legislation and / or implemented immediately “.

Musyj said that if anyone objects to receiving a vaccine, that is up to them. But obstructing the rights of others to get vaccinated crosses the line, he said.

“Intentionally blocking someone from receiving health care services, and let’s get right to the root of this, some say it is the most important health care service of our time, preventing someone from doing that, it is distressing,” Musyj said. .

“It is one thing to picket peacefully. But intentionally blocking someone from receiving critical healthcare services is indescribable. I thought at this point I had seen it all. Clearly, I haven’t. “
