Local police report at least three dead and six injured in shooting at Oxford, Michigan school

Three students were killed and six other people, including a teacher, were injured when a 15-year-old man opened fire Tuesday at a school north of USAannounced the local police.

The alleged perpetrator, who is also a student at that high school, was arrested and a pistol was seized after the shooting, said Michael McCabe of the police Oxford, in the state of Michigan.

“There was no resistance during the arrest and the suspect has requested a lawyer,” the Oakland County, Michigan sheriff’s office said in a statement, stating that the young man also “has not given any statement of motive.”

“It is a very tragic situation (…), we have many upset parents,” McCabe told the television channel Fox News.

The shooting occurred in Oxford, a small town about 40 miles north of Detroit.

Police said they received more than 100 emergency calls to 911 shortly after noon, and that the shooter fired between 15 and 20 shots during about five minutes with a semi-automatic pistol, with more than one magazine of ammunition.

The suspect was taken into custody within five minutes of the first 911 call, according to authorities.
