The Montreal Canadiens play the second game of their road trip against the Chicago Blackhawks at the United Center on Thursday. Please note the slightly later start time: disc delivery at 8:30pm (TSN2, RDS, TSN 690 Radio, 98.5 FM) .

With a 5-1 loss in Boston against the Bruins on Wednesday night and a victory by the Arizona Coyotes, the legendary Habs are officially the basement dwellers of the NHL: last in the league with 18 points.

Jake Allen left Wednesday’s game in the first period and did not return, so goaltender Cayden Primeau was removed from the taxi squad on an emergency basis today. Allen will be out for at least a week.

Jake Evans and Alexander Romanov return to the lineup after being on the COVID protocol list. Recent waiver acquisition Rem Pitlick will make his Habs debut tonight, wearing No. 32. Chris Wideman received a one-game suspension for his header over Erik Haula on Wednesday. Corey Schueneman will also play tonight, while Lukas Vejdemo, Cedric Paquette and Sami Niku are out.

In Habs prospect news, forward Sean Farrell has been named to the United States men’s ice hockey team for the upcoming Winter Olympics. Farrell is currently playing at Harvard.
