Live Updates on Cheltenham Local Elections 2022


Cheltenham voters will find out who will govern them locally until 2027 later this afternoon (Friday 6th May). A total of 21 seats out of the 40 that make up the Cheltenham City Council will be contested for the midway election.

The local authority normally holds an election every two years and residents can vote for one of two seats in each district. The Liberal Democrat group currently has an absolute majority of 19 on the council and there is also one vacant seat.

The current political makeup of the council is 29 Liberal Democrats, seven Conservatives, two anti-bureaucracy people and one non-aligned. The main political parties have outlined below their priorities for the municipality.
