No, it’s not 2006, but it might as well be. Dear emo rockers My Chemical Romance they’re back with new music for the first time in almost a decade.
The band released a new single. “The Foundations of Decadence” on Thursday, his first major release since his 2014 song “Fake Your Death.” Lead singer Gerard Way’s moody, distorted voice opens the six-minute track, building into an explosive chorus.
“Let our bodies lie while our hearts will remain / Let our blood invade if I die in pain,” Way sings. “Now, if your convictions were a passing phase, let our ashes feed the river with morning rays. And while the vermin creep, we lie in the foundations of decay.”
Produced by Way, Doug McKean and lead guitarist Ray Toro, “The Foundations of Decay” marks a new era for MCR following their 2013 split and as they prepare to release their highly anticipated reunion tourstarting in the UK May 16 and in North America on August 20.

In the fall of 2019, the group announced their comeback and reunited for a reunion performance in December.
Of course, MCR fans were delighted with the new song. Many took to social media to show their love for the multi-platinum band’s latest release.

The band, best known for the hits “Welcome To The Black Parade,” “Helena” and “I’m Not Okay (I Promise),” broke up in 2013 after more than a decade together. MCR’s latest album, “Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys”, peaked at number 1 on Billboard’s Rock Albums chart and spawned the top 5 rock single “Sing”.
“Being in this band for the last 12 years has been a true blessing,” the group said in a statement in March 2013. “We’ve gone places we never knew we’d go. We’ve been able to see and experience things we never imagined possible.
“We’ve shared the stage with people we look up to, people we look up to, and best of all, our friends,” the band continued. “And now, like all good things, the time has come to end. Thank you for all your support and for being part of the adventure.”
The band has also been selected for festival lineups this year, including the 10th anniversary of the fireflies music festival in September and The Festival When We Were Young in October, playing alongside acts like Green Day, dualipa Y paramore.
