After trailing for much of the night to CAQ candidate Eve Bélec, incumbent Liberal MNA Marie-Claude Nichols managed to win her third consecutive election by a margin of 576 votes.

With the 208 reported polls, Nichols obtained 34.22 percent of the vote, while Bélec obtained 32.77 percent.

Nichols, a family attorney, was first elected as an MNA in 2014.

The CAQ was victorious in neighboring Soulanges, where Marilyne Picard was re-elected with 42.62 percent of the vote. Liberal candidate Catherine St. Amour finished second with 21.82 percent.
