Speaker Nathan Cooper is inviting anyone who can sign to put their name forward to perform O Canada in the assembly.

“The Legislature is the people’s house; we want to give Albertans an opportunity to share their voices,” said Cooper in a Wednesday press release. “I encourage Albertans to let us know if they are interested in singing O Canada to help MLAs begin their important work every week.”

During session, the assembly is led in the singing of O Canada every Monday afternoon at 1:30. The song is traditionally led by an anthem singer, but the assembly is hoping to see more community participants.

Those who would like to put their name forward can contact the speaker’s office at [email protected].

Performances will be scheduled starting in May 2022.
