Just before 3 a.m. on Sept. 16, an OPP patrol officer in Leamington spotted a pickup truck towing a boat with no working trailer lights.

Police tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled the area. A little later, after colliding with several curbs and causing serious damage to the truck, the driver lost control and struck a power line cable support pole.

With the vehicle stuck, the driver tried to flee on foot but was stopped without further incident.

Further investigation revealed that the truck, boat, and trailer had been reported stolen.

Jacob Wall, 22, of Leamington, is charged with elopement by a law enforcement officer, dangerous operation, possession of property obtained for a crime valued at more than $ 5,000 and driving while suspended.

Anyone with information about this or any other incident should contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
