Duvernay-Tardif, 30, has not played in the NFL since the 2019 season, and took a year off last year to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic in Quebec. He was first activated off the disabled list for Monday night’s game against the New York Giants, but did not play.

Since being selected 200th overall in the 2014 NFL Draft, Duvernay-Tardif has played in 60 regular season games and six postseason games for the Chiefs, including a victory in Super Bowl LIV.

“Words cannot express how grateful I am to the Kansas City Chiefs organization,” Duvernay-Tardif said in a post on Twitter. “They made my dream come true by recruiting me in 2014.”

He said leaving the team “was not an easy decision,” but going to the Jets “gives me the best chance to play.”
