The Montreal police department says he is the 28th homicide victim in its territory this year.

The SPVM had been alerted by a 911 call about an inanimate person found in a residence.

Officers tried to revive the man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The 48-year-old victim had marks of violence,” said Véronique Comtois, SPVM spokesperson.

Investigators from the felony unit are trying to determine what happened.

“Our investigators will try to gather as much information as possible, for example if witnesses saw something or if surveillance cameras captured the incident,” Comtois said.
