Larry Kudlow: This kind of socialism is completely alien to the American tradition

So now we have learned that the Biden administration has established something called the Disinformation Governance Board. It will be run by a certain Nina Jankowicz, who has a history of spreading disinformation. Isn’t that perfect?

Jankowicz has a history of sharing misleading claims about the now discredited dossier of former British spy Christopher Steele. He also questioned the Hunter Biden laptop story, blaming Russian disinformation.

Ironically, in the year 2020, he said, “I don’t think the government should be in the business” of combating disinformation. Well, at least he got that part right, but this new Disinformation Governing Board is a Soviet-style, or Putin-style, attempt to suppress information and you can bet it will try to suppress information from conservative sources.

You can also bet it’s no coincidence that this Orwellian attempt to squash free speech comes at the same time that Elon Musk is trying to unleash free speech on Twitter.

We don’t know much about this board yet, but we do know from DHS Secretary Mayorkas’ recent congressional testimony that its duties will cover a wide swath of information across the country.

Mayorkas says he will focus on misinformation surrounding the Russian invasion of Ukraine and messages from various smuggling groups to would-be illegal immigrants crossing the southern border.

Then Mayorkas informed Congress that the disinformation board will deal with electoral information. Election information? What does that mean? Could that mean avoiding opposing viewpoints during political debate? That is, take sides and label conservative views as “disinformation”?

Last year, Mayorkas told Congress that he was working with the Department of Education on a program to help school children spot dangerous misinformation.

Than? Is the Department of Homeland Security labeling parents “domestic terrorists” because they don’t want bureaucrats in school boards and teachers’ unions dictating gender identity, sexual habits, racism, and all the other issues of the agenda of the awakening of the extreme left? Would it be processed by DHS as “misinformation”? Really?

Isn’t it bad enough that Biden’s Justice Department has gone that route? No one really knows what this governing board is. What is your mission?

They placed him in the Secretary’s Office, which means he won’t be subject to congressional oversight. If this sounds awfully like a political ploy to go after conservative views during the upcoming midterms and then the presidential election in 2024, I bet that’s exactly what they have in mind.

We’re talking about “speech police” here. Let me repeat, Soviet-style, Putin-style attempts to curb free speech and the First Amendment. By the way, Madam Psaki is trying to turn this into a continuation of the Trump administration, but that is gross misinformation.

PSAKI DEFENDS NINA JANKOWICZ, CLAIMS DHS ‘DISINFORMATION’ BOARD’S CONTINUED WORK UNDER TRUMP

In Trump’s DHS was the cybersecurity and infrastructure security agency, called “CISA.” It existed to control foreign influences. It was completely cyber related and was his own independent agency, meaning he didn’t reside in the secretary’s office.

It was subject to congressional oversight. It had nothing to do with American education, or election information, or anywhere else the Biden disinformation board goes. The entire story is a shocking revelation, revealed almost by chance by Mayorkas in recent testimony. Now, there’s a larger point here, which is to say, in many ways, this kind of attempted government control over free speech is really the close cousin of Biden’s wake-up economic policies that seek government control over all of our industrial sectors, as Newt Gingrich calls it, “big government socialism.” Plain and simple, it is statist central planning. Think of it as the regulatory state.

The war on fossil fuels is the best example, but the Bidens want the state to run all healthcare, finance, lately tech and semiconductors, including of course social media, which is why the Bidens hate Elon Musk.

This kind of socialism is completely alien to the American tradition. Controlling speech is probably worse than controlling the economy, but both deny freedom: freedom to speak, freedom to worship, freedom from parents, freedom of opportunity, freedom to succeed.

This is a far left thing. The Americans will not have it. It’s another big political mistake by the far-left-driven Biden administration. But take heart folks, the cavalry is coming.
