Labor informality in Querétaro maintains an upward trend

Querétaro, Qro. The informality rate maintains an upward trend in the first three quarters of the year. While in the first quarter the rate of labor informality was around 42.32% in the state, in the second quarter it rose 0.13 points, after climbing to 42.45%, detail the records of the National Survey of Occupation and Employment (Enoe), of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).

On a quarterly basis, during this year, the third quarter reports the highest increase, with an increase of 1.34 points in relation to the same previous period, since for July-September the informality rate was 43.79%, the institute’s indicators specify.

The reports for the first quarter of 2021 show a slight decrease of 0.48 points in relation to the informality rate of the fourth quarter of 2020, which was 42.80 percent.

Meanwhile, the results for the third quarter of this year represent an increase of 1.60 percentage points compared to the same period of the previous year (42.19% informality).

Meanwhile, a year ago, the rate of labor informality of the third quarter of 2020 was 2.67 points higher in annual terms, that is, compared to the rate of the same period of 2019, when it was around 39.52%, prior to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, in the third quarter of 2021 the unemployment rate of Queretaro was the eighth lowest in the country, below Coahuila (36%), Baja California Sur (36.7%), New Lion (37.1%), Chihuahua (37.4%), Baja California (37.7%), Aguascalientes (40.8%), Sonora (41.1%), and Queretaro (43.8%).

Occupation

Regarding the population in informal occupationThis shows quarterly increases in this year, the greatest increase occurred between the second and third quarters, with a stronger growth trend than the population in formal employment.

While in the first quarter of 2021 the population in informal employment totaled 406,434 people, a figure that for the second quarter rose by 3.6%, incorporating 14,799 people to give a total of 421,233 people in informal employment.

The recent result, that of the third quarter of the year, accounts for 450,338 people in informal employment in the state, a figure with a quarterly increase of 6.9%, that is, in this period 29,105 people were incorporated into this condition of informality, compared to the quarter previous.

On the contrary, the population in formal employment shows a trend of more moderate increases, since in the third quarter of the current year this segment added 578,068 people in formal employment, a figure 1.2% (7,067 incorporations) higher in relation to the 571,001 of the quarter previous.

Meanwhile, the total population in formal occupation in the second quarter represents an increase of 3% (17,095 more people) compared to the first quarter of the year, when the figure was 553,906 people in formal occupation, detail records from the National Institute of Statistics and Geographer (Inegi).
