La Comer raises operating flow to double digits

La Comer, a supermarket chain focused on the high-income segment, began 2022 with results above the experts’ expectations and with a performance that improved that reported by other similar companies.

The quarterly operating flow (EBITDA) of La Comer was 14.2% higher than that reported a year earlier and profits 28.7% better, percentages that improved by 3 and 12%, respectively, the consensus of analysts organized by Infosel. Sales increased 15% from the first quarter of 2021 to the first quarter of 2022, while at comparable levels they increased 7.3%.

“All formats, regions and categories show increases in sales, but the La Comer format presented the best increases in same-store sales in the quarter. Fresko and Sumesa also had very good results due to their excellent product catalog and improved mix to better serve customers in the area where these formats are located,” the company said in the report.

La Comer’s performance was superior to that of competitors such as Walmart and Soriana, which, although they had better results than a year ago, their growth was more modest.
