Dear Debbie Jodoin,

You don’t mind if I drop you a line, do you?

I mean, this open letter is not legal advice, so there’s no need to be overly formal.

It is simply an open letter written to you, the person identified as the “whistleblower” who caused Patrick Brown to be ousted from the Conservative leadership race.

One complaint from one person: that’s all it took, Debbie. Apparently, what you had to say was so powerful, so incontrovertible, so damning, that only you could force the ouster of one of the leading candidates in your party’s leadership race. Even after the ballots have been printed with his name on them. Wow.

What did you say that would have such a dramatic result? That is the question everyone is asking, because the Conservative Party bosses refuse to say anything significant.

Sure, there has been an unverified claim that someone was paying him to help Brown’s campaign.

But ever since Jesus was a little boy, companies and associations and unions have been lending people for political campaigns. Hell, the NDP wouldn’t exist if they didn’t take work from work. As long as it’s revealed, and as long as it’s within a certain limit, it’s fine. Everybody does.

We’re sorry, but this video could not be loaded.

Now, Debbie, I sent you a series of questions before I wrote this op-ed. You didn’t respond to any of them.

Are here:

1. Have you received or been offered employment or compensation by the Poilievre campaign or the Conservative Party?

2. He has posted multiple statements on social media applauding Poilievre and his campaign staff. Was she in contact with them, or their representatives, when she was apparently supporting Patrick Brown?

3. We have received statements and suggestions that the Poilievre campaign placed him, or offered to do so, with the Brown campaign to harm the former. Is this true?

4. Have you received any compensation or consideration from anyone associated with or supportive of the Poilievre campaign?

In any case. No response.

We’re sorry, but this video could not be loaded.

A podcaster, James Di Fiore, got a response from you. He also asked you if the Conservative Party had given you a job. Because he and we had also heard that.

This is how you answered: “No comment.”

No comment is probably what your lawyer advised you to say, Debbie, because that’s what lawyers tend to do (stupidly). But here’s the thing: Patrick Brown has hired one of the best lawyers in the world, Marie Henein, to fight her expulsion. “No comment” will not work with her.

Full disclosure, and full disclosure is something I personally recommend you do as well, Debbie, I have worked with and hired Marie Henein, Scott Hutchinson, and Alex Smith, and many others at your excellent law firm. Marie and Scott are among the best attorneys I have ever met. Marie, in particular, is probably one of the best interrogators to ever live.

This is something you’re about to find out, Debbie, the hard way. By the time Marie is done with you, you may be wondering a lot if you should have come forward as a “whistleblower.” You might be wondering if any of that was worth it. You may be wishing you were never born.

Because Marie Henein is not going to let you get away with a “no comment”. Nope.

Now Patrick Brown and Marie Henein also have legal challenges. They need to figure out how to put you under oath and how to force you to answer their questions. But if they do? Put on your helmet, Debbie.

That is the main purpose of this open letter to you, Debbie. To advise you to get the best damn lawyer you can afford. Do it now. Now.

Because, God knows, you are about to have that experience that you will never, ever, ever forget.

Sincerely,

Etc.
