A Cornish man and woman face a series of charges after a traffic stop by Kingston Police.

Police say a vehicle was seen committing multiple road traffic law violations.

Once the vehicle was stopped, the male driver did not have a driver’s license to show the police and gave them a false name.

The man was arrested and a search of the vehicle found a backpack with a sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun, as well as a pocket knife.

A woman was also detained and determined to be the owner of the vehicle.

The 42-year-old man and 37-year-old woman face one count of possession of a firearm and a prohibited weapon, while the man faces additional charges of obstructing the police, two counts of possession of a weapon while prohibited, violation of the release order and non-compliance with probation.
