The two are wearing black jackets and medical masks. One stops to tie his shoe a short distance away from the Mazda, which was parked in the 300-block of Tempe Crescent about six kilometers from where the murder happened.

Det.-Cpl. Sukhi Dhesi, of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, said someone returned to the vehicle Saturday evening to light it on fire, prompting 911 calls.

Milad Rahimi, who had ties to gangs in BC and nationally, was gunned down in a North Vancouver Superstore parking lot on March 11, 2022.

Firefighters and police determined the vehicle was the same car seen outside the Real Canadian Superstore, at 333 Seymour Blvd. when Rahimi was shot to death in the parking lot about 2:45 pm Friday.

Rahimi, 34, and his older brother Mohammed, 36, have been connected to a variety of Lower Mainland gangs over the past 15 years. Mohammed, known as Mo, remains a fugitive after being charged in 2015 with extortion and unlawful confinement.

Dhesi described the driver of the stolen Mazda “as wearing the following: a black hoodie, gray pants with either patchwork or a torn pattern, black shoes, wearing a medical mask and carrying a gray backpack with a single strap.”

She said “the passenger exiting the Mazda 3 is described as wearing a three-quarter length black jacket with a hood. The jacket at a very distinct white symbol on the left shoulder, gray pants, and black shoes.”

Anyone who saw the pair either Friday around the time of the shooting or Saturday when the vehicle was set on fire is asked to contact investigators at 1-877-551-4448 or hit[email protected].

“We are urging the public to look carefully at these images and video in order to assist IHIT investigators to identify these individuals,” Dhesi said. “If anyone recognizes or saw these people in the 300-block Tempe Crescent, North Vancouver or in the surrounding area, you’re asked to contact IHIT immediately. She said investigators are also looking for both dash cam or security video footage around the area where the car was found, both on the afternoon of March 11 between 2:30 and 3:30 pm and on March 12 between 6:30 and 7 pm

Police have still not determined whether Rahimi’s murder is linked to the on-going Lower Mainland gang conflict or some personal historic dispute he and his brother had with others.

The Rahimi brothers were once part of a North Shore gang called the Red Lions. Some of the Lions merged with others to form the Red Scorpions in 2005. They have also been connected to the Hells Angels and the United Nations gang.

The Rahimis were considered by police to be independent contractors in organized crime, working for the highest bidder.
