KFPL continues to develop financial literacy skills for women with a focus on retirement

Without financial literacy skills, women approaching retirement may find that their savings
and planning have not been enough to live comfortably. Even if retirement seems a long way off, it is now
time for women to think ahead, as women tend to be more financially vulnerable, live longer, and typically retire with fewer funds.

As part of the KFPL Live series, Financial Education for Women, Laura Southall, Senior Wealth Advisor at
Assante Financial Management Ltd. is helping the women of Kingston Frontenac understand what
need to retire and what sources of income make it possible.

“When retirement seems a long way off, we tend to ignore it, but as it gets closer, many of us
they can panic and worry that we will never have enough to retreat comfortably, ”said Anne Hall, Librarian of Programming and Extension. “When we finally sit down to face it in an organized way, it may be
much less scary. “

An interactive online seminar, Financial Education for Women: Preparing for Retirement occurs in
7-8: 30 pm on Tuesday, October 5. Register online at https://calendar.kfpl.ca/event/5274099 or by
