Kelowna RCMP issue safety alert after woman sexually assaulted midday by stranger

Kelowna RCMP have issued a pubic safety alert after a woman was sexually assaulted by a stranger on June 13.

Mounties say the woman was walking from about noon to 1 pm near Springfield Road and Hollywood Road South when she was followed by a stranger, then forced toward Mission Creek where she was sexually assaulted.

The suspect is described as a South Asian man in his mid-20s with black hair, a well-groomed beard, partly shaved right eyebrow, and wearing a black zip-up puffy jacket, white T-shirt and green silk sweatpants.

Cpl. Tim Russell of the Kelowna Vulnerable Persons Section said in a statement: “Investigators from the Kelowna RCMP Sex Crimes Unit are actively canvassing the area for video surveillance in an effort to identify and locate the suspect.”
