Judge grants protection to “El Bronco” after his arrest in Nuevo León

Monterey, NL. The former Governor of New LionJaime Rodriguez Calderon “The Bronco“, obtained an amparo granted by the First District Court in Criminal Matters in Monterrey, for the use of resources of illicit origin.

This Wednesday, at 4:00 p.m. in the Palace of Justice, the first hearing of case 4375/2022 is scheduled, where the Control Judge will formulate the charge against the former governor, after his arrest for electoral crimes.

Gabriel Eduardo García, one of the defense attorneys, told the local press that the former governor’s hearing will be held at the Palace of Justice by video call.

For his part, the lawyer Víctor Oléa, of the defense of James Rodriguez commented to Image Group that the former governor could go free because the crimes he is accused of do not merit preventive detention.

This is due to the fact that the alleged crime, “in the case of a federal election, that is, the election for the Presidency of the Republic, the General Law clearly establishes that this is a matter of federal and not local jurisdiction, therefore it does not should have been investigated by the Specialized Prosecutor for Electoral Crimes of Nuevo León, but by the Attorney General of the Republic.”
