Judge dictates justified preventive detention to Lozoya for Agronitrogenados case

A federal judge ordered the justified preventive detention of the former director of Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex), Emilio Lozoya Austin, for the case Agronitrogenados.

In a new hearing in the North Prison of Mexico City to review the precautionary measures, the judge argued that there is no other precautionary measure that can be imposed on him already being deprived of his liberty.

The judge also announced that he would soon be withdrawn from Lozoya the electronic bracelet, which was placed on him in July 2020 after being extradited from Spain.

Miguel Ontiveros and Alejandro Rojas, Lozoya’s lawyers, informed before the hearing that Lozoya would offer real estate and cash to repair the damage for 3.4 million dollars in the Agro Nitrogenados case and 1.6 million dollars in the Odebrecht case. Ontiveros said that his client has property and money that allow him to raise those amounts.

Emilio Lozoya received justified preventive detention on November 3, after the precautionary measures for the Odebrecht case were modified following the request of the Attorney General’s Office (FGR).
