Juan Orlando Hernández, former president of Honduras, flies to the US to be tried for drug trafficking


The former president of Honduras, Juan Orlando Hernandez (2014-2022)was extradited this Thursday on a DEA plane from Tegucigalpa to the United States, where he will be tried for drug trafficking and may face life sentences.

The plane took off Thursday afternoon from the airport that serves the capital Tegucigalpa.

A US Drug Enforcement Agency twin-turboprop Beechcraft took off from a Honduran Air Force base at 2:27 p.m. local time, with Hernández guarded on board, handcuffed and wearing a blue jacket and jeans.
