Jordan Peterson Widely Mocked After Calling Sexy Swimsuit Cover ‘Overbearing’

Jordan Peterson, the meat-only diet right-wing culture warrior, became Twitter’s “headliner” after posting a bizarre tweet declaring a Sports Illustrated cover “overbearing” and ” not beautiful.”

The Canadian professor and self-help author became famous for criticizing identity politics while giving simple life advice; while his fame has waned somewhat since then, Peterson is still considered a major influence on the right-wing media circuit.

Peterson is known for framing minor cultural changes as tyrannical and promoting the idea that preferred pronouns, casual sex, and student activism threaten to erode the foundations of Western civilization. But Peterson took his dramatic perspective too far when he posted a Sports Illustrated cover of Yumi Nu, a conventionally attractive model with thick thighs, and declared the photo an example of “authoritarian tolerance” for some reason.

It goes without saying that physical attractiveness is entirely subjective, and despite Peterson’s personal preferences, many people find Yumi Nu to be extremely attractive. If Peterson doesn’t, she’s fine; Frankly, no one asked for his opinion on the matter.

Therefore, Twitter responded with puzzled amusement.

Peterson’s statement even alienated some of his own fans, who confirmed that they weren’t being manipulated by nefarious authoritarian forces: There is no MK-Ultra show that brainwashes the public into appreciating thick thighs.

Peterson, famous for criticizing today’s youth as hypersensitive snowflakes, took great offense at being mocked online. Presumably having read his responses and looked up his own name, Peterson announced that he would be quitting Twitter, stating that the platform is especially harmful to mental health (and to be fair, he’s right).

Peterson posted a detailed breakdown of how he planned to part ways with the platform and his intention to write an op-ed highlighting Twitter’s toxicity. Overall, it was a pretty reasonable statement, in line with the way canceled celebs tend to behave after their feelings are hurt: next stop should be a 3-hour appearance on The Joe Rogan Experienceand maybe a Netflix special.

But it didn’t: A couple of hours later, Peterson was tweeting again, drawing attention to hot topics, seemingly unable to part with his phone.

The culture war never sleeps, and Peterson seems to see himself as one of the most dedicated soldiers on the battlefield. After all, Western civilization is not going to defend itself: there are beauty and gender norms that are being challenged every day!

While Peterson is right to prioritize his sanity over the endless absurdity of the culture war, he can’t expect his incendiary views to not draw rejection and ridicule; the man should follow his own advice: hang up the damn phone and clean his room.
