Jean-Marie Rossi, Carmen Martínez-Bordiu’s ex-husband antique dealer, dies

Hard moments for Carmen Martínez Bordiu. It’s Monday, one of the most important men in her life, her ex-husband and father of her daughter Cynthia, Jean Marie Rossi, has died in Paris at the age of 91. As the family of the prestigious and respected antiquarian has reported to the newspaper ‘Le Figaro’, the Frenchman has died “quietly”, “in peace” and without ever having lost his mental faculties.

A loss that leaves Carmen totally devastated who, despite her separation from her employer in 1994, always boasted of a great friendship with the father of her only daughter, who she fondly confessed was the man who taught her “art and love”.

Franco’s granddaughter met Rossi when she was still married to Alfonso de Borbón and, after falling madly in love with the antique dealer and despite having two young children with the Duke of Cádiz – Francisco and Luis Alfonso – she did not hesitate to bet on his love and leave him all to go to Paris with Rossi, 22 years her senior. The couple married civilly in 1984 and a year later, in 1985, they had their only daughter in common, María Cynthia Francisca Matilda.

A marriage that lasted ten years and in which, despite the tragic death of her 11-year-old son Francisco de Borbón, in a fatal car accident in 1984 when she was traveling with her father and brother Luis Alfonso, Carmen met the happiness and true love from the hand of Jean Marie, for whom he always felt true admiration.

In 1994, however, the socialite and the antique dealer broke their relationship and Carmen began an exciting relationship with the Italian architect Roberto Federici. Despite the fact that their marriage did not work out, Franco’s granddaughter always had good words for the father of her daughter Cynthia, whom today she cries in private and about whose death she has not yet made a public statement.
