January 2022 was the fifth month with the lowest number of deaths due to Covid-19 in Mexico

The official death toll from Covid-19 in Mexico rose to 306,091 deaths, after 198 new deaths were reported on 31 January. During the first month of 2022, the federal agency reported 6,663 deaths.

On average, during January, 167 daily deaths were recorded in Mexico as a result of the new coronavirus.

In the framework of fourth wave of Covid-19 infections facing the country, the rate of deaths was lower than that of confirmed cases.

The number of deaths registered in January 2022 was similar to that reported in May 2021, when 6,661 deaths were reported. This is the fifth month with the lowest number of deaths since the pandemic began in mid-February 2020.

Meanwhile, the accumulated Covid-19 infections in the country, it increased to 4 million 942 590, after 962 867 confirmed cases were reported during January 2022, the highest record of monthly infections.

This Monday, federal authorities reported 12,521 new Covid-19 infections in the past 24 hours.
