Jalisco invests 27 million pesos in biosecurity in poultry farms


Guadalajara, Jalisco. To deal with the risk of Notifiable Avian Influenza currently living in the country, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (Sader) and the Agrifood Health, Safety and Quality Agency (ASICA) from Jalisco They will invest more than 27 million pesos to strengthen biosecurity in the state’s poultry farms.

As part of this strategy, through the Program for the Promotion of Production and Modernization of the Field in JaliscoSader will give priority to poultry producers who want to strengthen biosecurity measures in their production units.

In the 2022 budget, through the Agrifood Health and Safety Program of the federal Saderin coordination with Sader Jaliscotwo million pesos were allocated for the epidemiological surveillance of the Notifiable Avian Influenza virus.

The resource will be used to monitor wild migratory birds that are considered a vector or transmitter of the disease, in addition to other prevention actions in backyard production units.

Certification

For its part, ASICA will publish in the coming days the announcement of its State Program for Agrifood Health, Safety and Quality (FISHING), which has a purse of 25 million pesos.

Said resource will be used to support projects for the certification of poultry farms in concepts such as good livestock practices for birds, minimum biosafety measures, as well as strengthening the infrastructure to comply with said measures.

Based on Sader’s 2021 Agrifood Panorama, 418,990 tons of poultry meat were produced in Jalisco, which positioned the state in second place nationally. Meanwhile, in plate egg production, Jalisco ranks first in the country with an annual production of 1.6 million tons.
