JAKK Tuesday Owner to Appeal KFL & A Public Health Order – Kingston | The Canadian News

Messages of support and Bible passages cover the windows on JAKK Tuesdays, where the locks have now been changed.

Kingston police and the sheriff’s office arrived at the pub at 5 a.m. Saturday, the day after a court order was served, to enforce the Section 22 public health order that required the company to comply with the provincial mandates or closed.

The JAKK Tuesday eviction comes after months of openly disobeying COVID-19 mandates, resulting in the company being stripped of its liquor and business licenses.

Kelly Hale, owner of JAKK Tuesday, did not respond to an interview request from Global News, but took the podium Sunday as a guest speaker at a protest rally dubbed “Fight for Freedom” by organizers.

“Each of us here is a warrior and we have to wage this battle for truth and justice. Just say no, ”Kelly Hale said in her speech to rally supporters.

Hale, while open, had refused to ask his sports pub patrons about their vaccination status, one of the topics he touched on while speaking at the rally.

“If a husband and wife go to the same doctor and the husband goes to the doctor and asks for his wife’s personal medical information, what do you think the doctor will tell him?” Hale asked the assembled crowd of several hundred at the protest.

“But I am supposed to ask for that information so that people eat something in my restaurant in freedom. Not under my watch, people, not under my watch. “

KFL & A Public Health issued a statement regarding Jakk Tuesdays and the Section 22 order.

“COVID security measures, as outlined in the Ontario Reopening Act, are designed to protect people from the spread of COVID-19 and complying with these measures is an important way to operate safely during the pandemic, “said Dr. Piotr, Oglaza Health Medical Officer said in the press release.

“JAKK Tuesday Sports Pub violates rules that are designed to protect people from the spread of COVID-19.”

According to KFL & A Public Health, Hale is appealing the Section 22 public health order and will appear before an appeals board on a date yet to be determined.
