While this Monday, the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Rosa Icela Rodriguez, recognized that during the first 11 months of the year family violence increased by 15.5% and 20.5% compared to 2019, while rapes by 20.8%, this compared to the same period in 2020.
The official also indicated that extortion increased by up to 11.2% from January to November.
Presenting the safety briefing during the President’s morning conference Andrés Manuel López Obrador, Rodríguez Velázquez pointed out that, despite the increase in investigation folders for family violence so far this year, in November it decreased 17.6% in relation to the historical maximum of this crime, which was registered in May with 23,000 cases.
“In the last six months it has been down but it has not been enough, we have an increase of 15.5%,” said the Secretary of Security.
In terms of violation, he detailed that, in the period of 2019 compared to 2020, there was a decrease of 5.5%, while, in relation to 2021, it increased 20.8 percent.
He highlighted that between 2019 and 2021, the criminal incidence of the federal jurisdiction has had a reduction of 22.1%, according to the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC).
Likewise, he sought to highlight that from January to November 2021 there was a 3.8% decrease in intentional homicide, compared to the same period in 2020. “This year we have been declining for four consecutive months. November was the month with the fewest homicides so far of the entire administration“, He said.
