Inquiry vs scientists, adhering to standards: FGR

The Office of the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) promised to guarantee due process in the investigation that it initiated against 31 scientists and former officials of the National Council of Science and Technology (Conacyt), and promised that it would give each one of them timely access to the research folder.

After the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) issued precautionary measures for the FGR to avoid “media and ministerial persecution” against the 31 investigated, the FGR responded that it has not made public data from the respective ministerial investigation, as well as from the possibly accused persons.

He argued that in his communiqué FGR 377/21, he made a position “solely and exclusively on judicial and procedural institutions and issues that reflect his right to exercise his constitutional ministerial functions.”
