INE approves candidates for extraordinary election in Nayarit

The General Council of the National Electoral Institute (OTHER) approved the registration of the five candidacies of parties and coalitions that will participate in the extraordinary election in Nayarit December 5 to elect a senator for that state.

The plenary session of Senate of the Republic approved last March to call an extraordinary election of senator in Nayarit, after the seat of Miguel Ángel Navarro Quintero, current governor of that state, was declared vacant.

In July, the Plenary of the Guadalajara Regional Chamber of the Electoral Court of the Federal Judicial Branch (TEPJF) declared that Daniel Sepulveda Árcega was ineligible to assume the position of alternate senator, for having been minister of religious worship without complying with the time established by law to leave that position.

In this framework, the General Council of the INE approved this Monday, November 1, the formulas for candidates for Senate in the state of Nayarit by the principle of relative majority presented by the national political parties National Action, Institutional Revolutionary, Democratic Revolution and Citizen Movement, as well as the one presented by the Together We Make History Coalition in Nayarit.

The PAN will compete with Anel Zarina Cabrales Pérez; the PRI with Salvador Hernández Castañeda; the PRD with Luis Alberto Zamora Romero; Citizen Movement with Ignacio Flores Medina; and the Together We Make History coalition in Nayarit with Rosa Elena Jiménez Arteaga.

The extraordinary election will take place on December 5. This November 2 and until December 1, political campaigns will be carried out in the entity.
