Industry promotes recovery of construction in Querétaro

Queretaro, Qro. Industrial activity and housing development have been the driving forces behind the reactivation of private construction in the state, influencing the recovery of the construction industry.

The president of the Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry (CMIC)Querétaro delegation, Óscar Hale Palacios, recognized in these segments the push of private works, and that there are good expectations for the development of industrial projects during this year.

In particular, the attraction of data centers and investment projects in the automotive industry, he explained, has led to a greater demand for industrial land.

“Our members of the chamber have a specialty that is the one that triggers the most, which has been the industry, many projects are coming, data centers are coming here in Querétaro (…) Which generates not only direct jobs for the company, but the entire that chain of suppliers that develops and also causes a lot of infrastructure to be developed”, he explained.

Local builders, he added, are prepared to provide construction and infrastructure development services demanded by the private sector.

“We have the guarantees to do it, the guarantees from the construction companies are sufficient to guarantee any type of work, we have from SMEs to large companies, we can really offer the best proposal for investors,” he commented.

In this start of 2022, he added, better expectations of private investment are visualized than in 2021, because the development of local public investment projects provides certainty to private investors.

Given the services demanded by the construction of data centers, the members of the chamber have specialized in areas that allow them to cover this demand, he pointed out.

However, through Training Institute for the Construction Industry (ICIC) it seeks to continue developing areas that allow the specialization of builders, he commented.

“That specialization of our companies, which goes from the administrative part, the technical and labor part. With our Training Institute and the Technological Institute, we are one of the only chambers at the national level that have this type of dynamism with our affiliates, which makes our companies more and more solid”, he affirmed.

Increase

Only from January to November 2021, the value of private works experienced a growth of 20.3% in relation to the same period of the previous year.

However, it maintains a 25% drop in relation to the same period of 2019, that is, compared to the pre-pandemic period.

In this context, private works represent 79.9% of the total value generated by construction companies in the entity; meanwhile, 20.1% responds to public works.
