Industrial MSMEs in Querétaro see an increase in demand for inputs

Querétaro, Qro. Global logistical problems and the trade war between the United States and China have generated an increase in the North American demand for certain Mexican inputs, requirements that have also reached the industrial companies of the state.

The president of the Association of Industrial Mipymes of Querétaro (Amiqro), José Luis Cámara Gil, highlighted that local companies also regained competitiveness, as there was a gap in the supply chains anchored in Asia.

“The trade war with the United States and China has left an over-demand for Mexico because we are the natural suppliers of the United States and Canada, there has been a growth of more than 20% on demand for Mexican products and Querétaro is one of the main producers of auto parts. ”, He stated.

The increase in supply needs, he explained, is also related to the reactivation of the US economy.

“We are exporting more than we import (…) The United States economy is growing much more than the Mexican one and it is demanding the products of Mexico, this becomes something virtuous for us because we are exporting more. (…) We are exporting much more than we import, this translates into a better economy for Querétaro ”, he pointed out.

Among the 187 member companies in Amiqro, 25 (13.4%) export directly, however, the majority do so indirectly, through integrating companies, which include these inputs in articles that are finally exported.

Of the total number of companies in the association, 27% import their raw materials, so most of them source from local materials, in addition to applying circular economy processes and rejecting inputs.

Meanwhile, the supply capacities of industrial MSMEs range from the metalworking industry to the manufacture of packaging, plastic and steel transformation processes, among other areas.

Amiqro companies close the year with a pre-pandemic recovery scenario, as they estimate an annual growth of between 5 and 6% in their profits, as well as a variation of 3% in relation to 2019, before the effects of the pandemic.

“The closure is going well, jobs have recovered, we had a growth of almost 9% compared to what we had in 2019, which is very important, already with the IMSS figures. (…) We are going to close between 5 and 6% growth in profit during this year, it represents an economic benefit of just over 400 million pesos ”, he declared.

Queretan exports accumulated a value of 6,939.17 million dollars in the first half of the year, an annual increase of 36.2%, considering that a year ago the confinement occurred and the export activity contracted, reports the National Institute of Statistics and Geography ( Inegi).

The beverage and tobacco industry showed an annual growth of 73.4% in its export value; next, the plastic and rubber industry with a variation of 67.9%; the manufacture of machinery and equipment 58%; manufacture of transportation equipment 47%, among other items.
