This Thursday morning, during the morning conference of the Government of Mexico at the National Palace, the general director of the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), Diego Prieto Hernández, and the head of the Ministry of Public Education (SEP), Delfina Gómez Álvarez, presented the book Mexico. greatness and diversity.

Anthropologist Diego Prieto Hernández highlighted that this editorial novelty seeks to bring secondary school teachers, and through them to students, a broad notion of the natural and cultural vastness of our country.

The greatness of Mexico lies beyond the extension of its territory, its population or its economy since, above all, it has to do with its cultural and natural diversity, as well as with the strength of the civilizations that nurture its long history. “, He said.

The CEO of INAH reported that this volume is the result of the coordinated work of more than 30 specialists in history, anthropology, archaeology, linguistics and various scientific and humanistic disciplines, attached to the National Autonomous University of Mexico (ONE), the Autonomous Metropolitan University (HOW), the National Institute of Historical Studies of the Revolutions of Mexico (INHER), the Autonomous University of the State of Querétaro and the INAH.

The book offers the reader a journey that goes back to the geological transformation of the current national territory, the initial settlement of its geography, the domestication of corn and other foods, the emergence of pre-Hispanic societies, contact with the Hispanic world, the viceroyalty , Independence, the Mexican Revolution and other episodes of our national history.

The anthropologist pointed out that in addition to an initial print run of 120,000 copies, the book can also be downloaded in electronic format from the pages of the Ministry of Culture, the Media Library of the INAH and the Government of Mexico.

Finally, he announced that the Economic Culture Fund will circulate 10,000 additional copies to be purchased in physical format by interested readers.
