The lack of inventory of light and heavy vehicles due to the international shortage of semiconductors, led the automotive industry to – for the first time – not participate and be left out of the benefits of Good End 2021.
“On this occasion the supply problems that we are facing have not made it possible for the same intensity to be deployed by the dealer network and the manufacturers themselves, there will of course be some initiatives, especially in after-sales service and we hope that, May the campaign in general be one of the greatest successes, especially for the benefit of consumers for the actions taken by our associates ”, said Guillermo Rosales, director of the Mexican Association of Automotive Distributors (AMDA).
In a virtual press conference, the manager explained that the environment in which the activities of the network of distributors of light and heavy vehicles take place, with stagnation in marketing, causes that there is no active participation as there has been in previous editions of the Good End commercial campaign.
“Although the concentration of promotions and commercial dissemination is much more active due to the nature of the business in light vehicles, consumer goods, also in previous years there was a participation of heavy vehicle distributors, especially with service packages, spare parts, others ”, said Rosales.
When presenting the Internal Automotive Market Report on heavy vehicles as of last October, the AMDA director specified that the industry advanced in retail sales during the first 10 months of 2021, growing 18.2%; while in the tenth month of the year, it increased 1.5%.
In this regard, the National Association of Bus, Truck and Tractor Producers (ANPACT) reported that last October, the companies produced 13,660 units, which implies that the units manufactured in Mexico decreased 4.5% compared to the same month of the previous year, when 14,311 units were produced.
From January to October 2021, heavy vehicle production totaled 134,381 units.
