In Catalonia we play it, by Marc Lamuà

The General Budgets of Spain for 2022 They passed the initial approval process in Congress a few days ago and are in full process in the Senate. The intense work of the parliamentary groups, we could say, paid off.

For Catalonia It was a good parliamentary procedure, the socialist parliamentary group made an effort to make it possible. The different negotiations allowed us to talk today about one of the most generous budgets with our land. Merit of many and effort of many others, like almost everything good in politics.

Catalonia will be the recipient of numerous funds from general items and significant emoluments on account of the youth cultural voucher or the housing program, for example, reaching 19% of GDP as a whole and thus fulfilling, for the second consecutive budget, with what has been observed on the Third additional provision of the Statute of Autonomy.

In addition to all this we must add, for example, the cultural coca-capital of Barcelona with an investment for our cultural facilities of 20 million euros and of course, also, the amendments negotiated between the socialist group and the Esquerra and PDECat groups, for value of 83 million euros.

All those millions of euros They are not just money, they are opportunities for a Catalonia, which after more than ten years of ‘procés’, has seen how it is no longer the prosperous industrialized region that it used to be. These Budgets can and should be the footing on the wall that allows us to recover the situation prior to the political and strategic disarray and disorientation that we are experiencing.

We have lost a lot due to the forgetfulness of our rulers of what to do when they have a lever as important as the power to determine the Budgets of Spain.

Catalonia is that place where everyone regrets not doing what the Basques do when negotiating Budgets while demonizing the ‘peix al cove’ as an exercise in collaboration. We have demonized negotiating, understandingTo achieve the maximum possible for our land out of fear, out of terror, of having to recognize that Spain treats Catalonia well, as it really is, since we are – or should be – the spearhead of the common economy.

For this reason, in a year that seemed to be doing a bit well as Catalans again, that we once again had as a common priority to tackle every opportunity that these Budgets offered us, the intermixing of issues that end in the threat of busting the budget process it’s bad news. Because the government would not be harmed, Catalonia would be harmed, and worse still, to the opportunities of all Catalans and Catalans, which we need more than ever in the last ten disastrous years of political break. The Catalans and Catalans have seen the train, I do not think we are willing to let it go, the opportunities for our economy, for our young people and for our future are on it. All Catalan parliamentarians have this shared responsibility.
