Import of jalisciense avocado to the US opens up possibilities in China

Guadalajara, Jal. With the authorization of the United States to import Hass avocado produced in Jalisco, State of Mexico and Nayarit, the opening of other international markets such as China is closer and closer, the president of the National Association of Agrifood Councils of Mexico told El Economista ( CAM), Jacobo Cabrera Palos.

“Other states will be opening, so with care for the environment and the certification of the water footprint, in addition to connectivity after the Sixth Maritime Highway is put into operation, we will have the channels and adequate logistics to strengthen this product of export without neglecting the national market ”, he said.

For his part, the president of the Jalisco State Plant Health Committee, Juan Flores Coronado, commented that the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is making arrangements with the Asian giant to open that market to the so-called “green gold” of Mexico.

“There is also a great commercial relationship that has been generated with the United Arab Emirates, which is also a great market to expand (…) there are already negotiations with China, Brazil, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia and Thailand,” said Flores Coronado. .

He emphasized that the opening of new international markets will depend on the health and safety of food. In Jalisco there are 17,500 hectares declared as free zones of the avocado pit screwworm.
