IHIT says it is still in the early stages of its investigation and that it is unknown whether the incident is related to the Lower Mainland gang conflict.

Police say the burned-out black truck did not have a silencer, “so it would have been very noisy while traveling through Maple Ridge and the surrounding areas.”

Investigators are asking that anyone who has been in the area around 1:30 a.m. contact IHIT at 1-877-551-4448. Anyone with a dash cam who is in the area at the time is also asked to introduce themselves.
