Hydro One customers can now report power outages via text message and can receive text updates on status and power restoration times.

“We are always listening to our customers and supporting their changing needs by offering more options, whether through increased account customization or new self-service tools that make their lives easier,” Jason Fitzsimmons, Director of Corporate Affairs and Support Hydro One customer said in a statement.

“We are in a digital age where consumers expect self-service mobile tools available at their fingertips and we are proud to be the first electricity provider in Ontario to offer customers the option of reporting their outage via text message.” .

To report an outage, Hydro One customers can text WATTS (92887).

Hydro One customers can also track outages in their area via outage alerts and a outage map, and can also access an app where outages can be reported.
