Hundreds of participants attended the traditional “Via Crucis” procession in the streets of downtown on Friday morning.
The celebrants were led by Archbishop Marcel Damphousse of Ottawa-Cornwall.

The program included songs in Latin, English, French and Italian, and featured readings and reflections on the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
Over two and a half hours, participants made five stops at some of Ottawa’s key religious and cultural sites, including St. Patrick’s Basilica, the Supreme Court, Parliament and the National Gallery of Canada.
The march concluded in at Notre Dame Cathedral.
