Humane Society Veterans in Training Program Returns to Kitchener, Stratford | The Canadian News

After being affected for two years by the current COVID-19 pandemic, Kitchener Waterloo and Stratford Perth Humane Society (HSKWSP) is bringing the Vets in Training program back.

The group says those in the show will be able to participate for the first time since 2019 this winter.

“Vets in Training is the most popular youth program in our humane society,” Community Programs Manager Kathleen McCaughey said in a statement.

“Even when it was only offered online, the places filled up pretty quickly. Now that it is offered in person, the veterinary staff running the program will be able to be more hands-on with participants as they practice the skills they learn during the program. “

The program allows young people ages seven and up to learn what veterinarians do, as they also explore topics such as animal behavior and anatomy. Young people will even have the opportunity to take basic physical exams.

Separate five-week programs are offered for those in three age categories: 7-10, 10-14, and 14+.

It comes with a $ 250 price tag with options available from both Stratford and Kitchener.
