A funeral procession will leave the Bell Center at 10:30 am, from the corner of de la Montagne St. and Canadiens-de-Montréal Ave., before heading toward the cathedral.

Once the funeral begins, there will be designated spaces for the general public outside the cathedral. Large screens will be erected to allow people to follow the service.

The question of whether a national funeral would be held in Lafleur’s honor was raised shortly after his death from lung cancer, at age 70, on April 22.

Soon after, Premier François Legault and the Montreal Canadiens franchise announced Lafleur’s family had “agreed to share their grief with the community.”
