Hoteliers in Puebla register 80% occupancy


Puebla, Pue. The Easter holidays left the hotel sector with an average occupancy of 80%, especially in the area of ​​the Historic Center of Puebla, as visitors were attracted by the various religious activities, reported Manuel Dominguez Gabianpresident of the Puebla Association of Hotels and Motels.

He commented that the downtown hotels reached the highest occupancy levels of between 85 and 90%, while in the Angelópolis area it was below, but with acceptable activity.

He stressed that Easter is a representative season for this sector; however, it is insufficient to speak of an economic recovery for this 2022, after the havoc caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The leader explained that the more than 200 partners reinforced sanitary measures with national and foreign tourists, to prevent any risk of contagion because “it is common for people to relax when they see less incidence of the disease.”

Domínguez Gabián indicated that the reservations were made according to forecasts, between Wednesday and Friday, since visitors attend the procession that takes place in the first square of the city.

He estimated that the economic spill average per person was 1,100 pesosalthough in the case of foreigners they spend 40% more, which helps service providers.

He indicated that they are waiting for confirmation by the State Tourism Secretariat of the spill of 600 million pesos foreseen for the Easter holidays.

The president of the association recalled that Puebla capital has more than 12,700 rooms in hotels of different categories, which were positive to have a good influx and hope that it will continue for the rest of the year in different vacation periods.

He commented that the discounts of 30 and 50% on lodging were removed, which had been applied since last year to attract more visitors, since they had to take advantage of these holiday weeks this year.
